St Giles' CE Primary is  part of the ENTHUSE Partnerships programme 2022-2024. 

ENTHUSE Partnerships empower schools and colleges to share practice and work collaboratively, addressing underachievement in STEM subjects, inspiring excellence in the STEM curriculum and raising aspirations for STEM careers and further study.
Working with STEM Learning, each ENTHUSE Partnership receives up to £20,000 worth of support, including support from a STEM Learning coach, staff training, resources, teacher placements in industry or university, coordinated support from STEM volunteers through the STEM Ambassador programme and provision for enrichment activities like STEM Clubs.

We are:

• working collaboratively with 6 – 10 schools or colleges
• participating in the programme for 2 years
• accessing bespoke training for all staff and curriculum enhancement opportunities for pupils

ENTHUSE Partnerships improve young people's attainment and engagement in STEM subjects and develop awareness and understanding of STEM careers, contributing to the Gatsby Careers Benchmarks.
Evaluation from recent ENTHUSE Partnerships shows:

• attainment in STEM increased: 94% girls and 98% boys met or exceeded age-related expectations, up from 88% and 69% before the Partnerships started
• interest in STEM increased: over half of girls and two thirds of boys wanted to learn more about
• working in STEM, an increase of 10% from the start of the Partnerships
•  understanding of STEM careers increased: more students were aware of the qualifications and to progress in STEM

Impact on teachers

ENTHUSE Partnerships have significant benefits for teachers, transforming both the educational culture towards STEM in schools and young people’s achievement and aspirations.
Evaluation from previous ENTHUSE Partnerships shows:

• careers information is increasingly embedded in STEM teaching: teachers are more confident
• using careers to provide context when teaching STEM and do so more often. They are also more aware and better equipped to draw on the enrichment opportunities offered by STEM employers
• subject and pedagogical knowledge increased: 100% of school leaders and 83% of teachers
• agreed that staff subject and pedagogical knowledge had increased
• greater employer involvement: 65% of school leaders reported increased collaboration with other non-school organisations including business and industry
